ME & APHRODITE

A romantic comedy in the vein of Hitch, Me & Aphrodite follows the journey of wallflower librarian Lynley on her quest to woo her crush from work, Josh. Enter Aprhodite, a wise-cracking, leather-wearing goddess in the flesh sent on a misson to help Lynley land Josh, or be banished from Heaven forever. Problems arise when Josh
starts falling for Aphrodite instead. Aphrodite and Lynley try to turn Josh into “the perfect boyfriend” with the help of a magic potion that goes awry. Meanwhile, Lynley'’s best friend, David, harbors a secret crush of his own for Lynley, and starts acting like a jealous boyfriend. Farcial and whimsy, audiences will laugh for joy at the new and improved Lynley strutting her stuff in front of a New York City construction crew and laugh through tears when Lynley finally gets Josh, only to discover her Prince Charming might be her rippedjeans-wearing, Jeopardy-loving best friend David after all. A story that reminds all of us that finding true love is like catching a falling star, and is indeed, heavenly.

ONE HAND CLAPPING

One Hand Clapping is the story of love, death, obsession and friendship. A good girl from the wrong side of the tracks, Lucille Lockland has been obsessed with the piano ever since her mother, a celebrated concert pianist who taught her to play, died suddenly. A financially challenged student on academic scholarship at an Upper
East Side prep school, Lucille is challenged by the popular girl to enter the annual piano competition. To pay for the entry fee, she cleans houses after school, where she meets Bella Vale, a former famous concert pianist who has lived in virtual isolation ever since a tragic accident left her with one hand. After a test of wills, Bella gives Lucille free piano lessons, and Lucille coaxes Bella out into the world once again. Will Lucille win the competition? And why is Bella not there? Following in the celebrated mentor-protege dramas of Million Dollar Baby and Karate Kid, there is humor and poignancy as Lucille and Bella discover the missing keys to their own lives - each other.

LOOSE ENDS

When faced with a terminal cancer, Vivian, a rich widow, decides to get her affairs in order- beginning with making amends with her estranged children. Her daughter Lisa is a workaholic single parent whose relationship with her son Ben mirrors her relationship with her mother-extinct. Her son Michael is a thirty-something, wandering freeloader who has lived off his inheritance since the age of eighteen, and has bet himself into a very deadly corner. Without disclosing her situation, Vivian guilt trips her daughter and cuts off her son in order to get them to come to dinner where she tells them that she wants all of them to spend part of the summer together at the old beach house. Three rooms, two bathrooms, four people-one summer to change. Michael is forced to share his old bedroom with his nine-year-old nephew Ben, and Lisa is forced to loosen up. Just when things start to calm down, Vivian is forced to reveal the seriousness of her illness. Infuriated at being manipulated, Michael storms out, saying “"You can’'t just tie us up like loose ends!"” Lisa heads back to the city, back to a promotion, leaving Vivian and Michael behind. A heart-tugging family drama that matches Terms of Endearment tear for tear, Loose Ends is about learning to figure out what’s really important before it’s gone forever.

Emily is a studious, goodie-two-shoes English major who has never seen the inside of a frat house. Harboring dreams of being a writer, she is crushed when her favorite professor is less than enthusiastic about her writing, and dares her to live a little. Emily decides to take a trip to New York City over spring break to "live a little" and research her thesis paper and obsession - Dorothy Parker.

​​Through circumstances, Emily meets Rose, a 70 year-old fellow Parker enthusiast and unsuccessful poet, and the two embark on a journey throughout the city, visiting all of Parker's old haunts, some of which are gone. Staring at a past that is no longer there proves too much for Rose. Now alone in the concrete jungle, Emily slowly immerses herself in Parker, and becomes taken over by the power of Parker's spirit - dressing, talking, acting like her - until reality snaps her back. Or is she? After a the physical and mental journey, Emily returns home, now a little bit Emily and a little bit Parker. An independent-feeling,  coming-of-age dramedy that will fling you from laughter to tears in an instant, The Dorothy Parker Project is for anyone who has always wanted live wildly. Just for a little while.
